Instagram how-to
How to share a Collection on Instagram
Instagram only lets you share a Collection that's collaborative from the start. A private Collection you already made can't be shared - you start a new collaborative one and add friends to it.
How to create a shared (collaborative) Collection
1
Tap and hold Save
Below any post you want in the Collection.
2
Tap New collection
Name it, like "Lisbon, October".
3
Add people
Tap Add people to this collection and pick friends. Some versions show a Collaborative toggle instead.
4
Tap Save
Everyone you added can now see and add to it.
Start it from a group chat
In a DM or group chat, tap the save icon next to a shared post and add it to a new collaborative Collection. The whole chat gets access, which is the easiest way to include everyone going on the trip.
Rules worth knowing before you share
Private Collections can't be shared later, and a collaborative one can't be made private. Everyone in it can add, remove and even delete it. Leaving the chat removes access. Posts from private accounts only show to their followers.
Planning a group trip from a shared Collection
A shared Collection is great for gathering ideas and bad at the next step. With forty Reels in "Lisbon, October", nobody can tell what's near what or what's open on a Monday.
Share each Reel to a Pospot list instead and the places land on one map. Send the list link to the group and everyone adds their own - or publish the map so they can open it with no account.
How to share a Collection you already made
You can't share a private Collection, so you have two options. Rebuild it: create a collaborative Collection and save each post into it, starting with the ones for the trip you're planning. Or skip the Collection and send the posts straight into a group chat.
