Google Maps lists: save places and share a list
Open a place in Google Maps, tap Save, and pick a list or tap New list. Your lists live in the You tab (Saved on a computer), and any list can be shared as a link or opened up for friends to edit.
How to save a place to a Google Maps list

Find the place
Search for it, tap a marker, or touch and hold a spot on the map.

Open its details
Tap the name or address at the bottom of the screen.

Tap Save
On a computer, click Save.

Pick a list
Choose one, or tap New list and name it - one list per trip works best.
How to share a Google Maps list
View-only: on iPhone tap You, then More next to the list, then Share list. On Android open the list and tap Share. On a computer click Saved, then More, then Send a link to view.
To let friends add places, tap Invite collaborators in the app, or Invite to edit on a computer. You can switch editing off later under Sharing options. Starred places can't be shared - move them into a named list first.
How to plan a trip with Google Maps lists
Make one list per city, save everything you might want, add notes to each place, and look at the map for clusters - those are your days. Directions take up to 9 stops for a day's route.
It gets hard on longer trips: lists have no days, and you do the geography by eye.

Most travel ideas now arrive as TikToks and Reels, not searches. Google Maps saves places, not videos, so every saved video becomes manual work: watch, pause, read the sign, search, pick the right branch, save.

Where are my saved places on Google Maps?
In the app, tap You (Saved in some versions) and scroll to your lists. On a computer, click Saved.
Can multiple people edit a Google Maps list?
Yes. Use Invite collaborators in the app or Invite to edit on a computer, and share the link.
How many places can a Google Maps list hold?
Up to 3,000, according to Google.
Can I save a TikTok or Reel to Google Maps?
Not directly. Google Maps saves places, so you'd find the name in the video and search for it. Pospot does that from the link.
How do I save a list someone shared with me?
Open the link and tap Save list on your phone, or click Follow on a computer. The places show up on your map and under your lists.
Can I export my Google Maps lists?
Yes. Go to Google Takeout, make sure Saved is checked, and create an export.
